A communication app for iPhone

See how you look when you talk.

Faceloop records you on iPhone, marks changes in your expressions, head, hands and body, and compares them with your own usual self. Your video and analysis stay on your phone.

Requires an iPhone with Face ID and iOS 17 or later.

  • 100+ movements
  • Solo and group
  • Front and rear cameras
  • Segment reports

How it works

Not compared with anyone else. Only with your usual self.

01

Start recording

Set up your iPhone and start. The first 30 seconds of each person become their baseline for everything after.

02

See it marked live

When a clear movement happens, a zoomed view pops up and links to that spot, then closes after a few seconds so it stays out of the way.

03

Review the report

Video, zoomed views and notes for each segment sit together. Tap a movement to jump to that moment in the video.

Features

Everything visible in a conversation, on record.

Three scores, with a reason behind every point

Tap a score to see which movements caused it, then tap a movement to jump to the video.

  • WarmthSmiling, nodding and leaning in add points. Frowning, shaking your head and turning away subtract them.
  • OpennessOpen palms and open arms add points. Crossed arms, covering your face and looking away subtract them.
  • EngagementNodding, leaning forward and hand gestures add points. Looking elsewhere, closing your eyes and yawning subtract them.
100+

observable movements

From face to feet, plus the pitch and pauses in your voice.

Solo or group

Each person in frame is marked separately, with a sync score for how you interact. Expression analysis covers up to 3 people at once.

Front and rear cameras

Record yourself or the person across from you, and switch partway through.

Segment-by-segment report

A summary of the whole session and the changes in each segment, with findings and limits from psychology research.

Straight talk

We report what's visible. We don't guess the rest.

  • Not a lie detectorFaceloop can't tell whether someone is telling the truth.
  • No reading of emotions or thoughtsA smile doesn't always mean happiness, and people touch their faces for many reasons. Movement alone can't tell you what someone is thinking.
  • Scores aren't good or badA score is only the distance from that person's usual self, so it can't be used to rank two people.
  • No identity recognitionFace data is only used to detect movement. No face profile is built across recordings.

Privacy

It all stays on this phone.

FAQ

Before you download.

When can I download it?

Faceloop is getting ready for the App Store and isn't available yet. The first version won't be offered in the EU.

Which iPhones are supported?

Any iPhone with Face ID running iOS 17 or later.

Can it tell whether someone is lying?

No. Faceloop only describes visible movement and how far it is from that person's usual self. It can't tell whether someone is telling the truth, and it shouldn't be used to judge people.

Can I record other people?

Tell everyone in frame that you're recording and get their consent first. Some places also require consent by law before recording audio or video.

Will my records move to a new phone?

No. Records are excluded from iCloud and computer backups, so they don't transfer to a new phone and may not be recoverable if your phone is lost or damaged.
