Faceloop Privacy Policy
Summary
Faceloop analyzes video on your iPhone. Your video, audio, face data and results stay on this phone. We don't receive them and can't see them. The app needs no account, has no ads and doesn't track you.
Data the app uses
- Camera: to record video and detect visible expressions and head, hand and body movements.
- Microphone: to record sound and analyze pitch and pauses. You can deny microphone access. The app still records video, but without sound or sound analysis.
- Face data: the front camera gets facial expression values and position through Apple's ARKit. The rear camera gets similar values through MediaPipe, which runs on your phone.
About face data
- Use: only to detect expressions and movements, and to compare a person with how they were at the start of that recording.
- What we don't do: we don't identify people, build face profiles across recordings, or train models with it.
- Sharing: it isn't sent to us or to any third party.
- Retention: live face values aren't kept after analysis. Video, face thumbnails, face positions and results stay on your phone until you delete the record or remove the app.
What stays on your phone
- Recorded video and sound
- Thumbnails from when events happened
- Reports: event times, face and hand positions, difference scores and the three indices
- Performance logs: frame rate, thermal state, battery level and free memory
- App settings: language and whether you accepted the first-use notice
The records folder is excluded from iCloud and computer backups. Records won't move to a new phone and may be unrecoverable if your phone is lost or damaged.
What we don't collect
We have no server that receives this data. The app has no ads, third-party analytics or tracking tools, and we don't sell or share your data.
Purchases and Apple
Apple handles subscriptions and purchases. We never get your payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether you have Pro. See the Apple Privacy Policy for how Apple handles data. If you agreed to share analytics in your device settings, Apple may give us aggregated crash and usage statistics under its policies.
Viewing and deleting
All your data is on your phone, and you can view it in the app. Choosing "Delete this record" in a report removes that recording and its analysis. Removing the app deletes all records. Because we don't have your data, we can't look it up, restore it or delete it for you.
Other people on camera
Tell people and get their consent before recording them, and follow local laws on recording and personal data.
Limits of the results
Scores and notes only describe visible movements compared with the start of that recording. They don't show real feelings or whether someone is telling the truth, aren't a medical or psychological diagnosis, and shouldn't be used for hiring, education, legal or other major decisions.
Children
Faceloop isn't designed for children under 14.
Changes
If the way we handle data changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
